Born Skerries 7th July 1953. Married to Helen Crinion, two sons, one daughter. Educated Mount St. Joseph’s, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. Full-time Public Representative. Formerly Chief Executive of Medisec Ireland. First elected 2002.

Member Joint Committee on Arts, Sport, Tourism, Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. Member Joint Committee on Transport; Committee on Procedure and Privileges. Member British-Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body. Senator 2000-2002. Won Senate by-election in 2000. Former rugby international and former coach and manager of Leinster. Former manager Ireland under 19s and under 21s.
