Born Cork 15th February 1957. Married to Mary Lehane, four sons. Educated Crawford Technical Institute, Cork; University College Cork (Masters in ED, BA Sociology). Full-time Public Representative and former Teacher and Career Guidance Counsellor. First elected 1997.

Appointed deputy spokesperson on Education and Science with special responsibility for Information Society, June 2002. Member Joint Committee on Education and Science. Member Committee on Procedure and Privileges and Joint House Services Committee. Fine Gael Junior spokesperson on Agriculture, Food, Biotechnology and Safety Issues 2000-2001. Junior spokesperson on Labour Affairs, Consumer Rights and Trade 1997-2000. PRO and Director of Midleton and District Day Care Centre. Patron and Member of the Irish Red Cross, Midleton and Carrigtwohill Branch. Formerly a commissioned Officer of An Forsa Cosanta Aitiuil.
