Born Chicago, USA 14th August 1962. Married to Blaithin Hurley, one daughter. Educated Colaiste Chriost Ri, Cork and Cork IT (Diploma in Child/Community Care). Full-time Public Representative and former Community Worker. Contested 1992 and 1997 general elections in Cork South Central. First elected 2002.

Green Party Chief Whip and spokesperson on Finance and Social and Family Affairs, Community and Rural Development and the Islands. Member Committee of Public Accounts. Member Oireachtas Committee on Procedure and Privileges. Member Cork City Council since 1991. Former Vice-President of the National Youth Council of Ireland. Member National Economic and Social Council (NESC) and the Public Transport Partnership Forum.
