Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (with special responsibility for Environmental Information and Awareness and the Environmental Protection Agency) 1997-2002. Minister of State at the Department of the Environment 1992-1993. Former Chairman of the Security and Legislation Committee. In 1994 he chaired the Committee of Enquiry into the fall of the Albert Reynolds led Government. Member of Cork Corporation 1979-1992. Lord Mayor of Cork 1985-1986.
