Born Cork 14th June 1942. Married to Ethel Sutton, two sons, three daughters. Educated North Monastery and College of Commerce, Cork. Full-time Public Representative, Formerly Clerical Officer with Henry Ford Ltd. First elected November 1982 and at each subsequent election.

Member Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on Social and Family Affairs. Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (with special responsibility for Environmental Information and Awareness and the Environmental Protection Agency) 1997-2002. Minister of State at the Department of the Environment 1992-1993. Former Chairman of the Security and Legislation Committee. In 1994 he chaired the Committee of Enquiry into the fall of the Albert Reynolds led Government. Member of Cork Corporation 1979-1992. Lord Mayor of Cork 1985-1986. Member of Southern Health Board 1985-1992.
