TDs cannot guarantee support Two TDs who have supported the Government so far have announced that their support can no longer be relied on.
Dr James McDaid had the Fianna Fáil whip withdrawn from him over a year ago, but while remaining a member of the party, recent events in his Donegal North East constituency have, according to this RTE News article on 30 November 2009, changed his position.
On 4 December newly independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish indicated in an Irish Independent article he expected to negotiate a deal similar to those for other independent TDs supporting the Government. |

Important message about results coverage Please note that anything like real-time coverage of the local election results is way beyond the resources of ElectionsIreland.org. We aim to get the results of the Dublin By Elections online quickly, and we hope to be prompt with the Euro Election results as they are announced. Over the weekend, the best we are likely to be able to do for the locals is to indicate which candidates have been successful. We will get the full results online as soon as possible, but this is a mammoth task. We should manage it more quickly than the Department of the Environment, who typically take more than a year to produce the official results! |
