5 November 2008 WEBSITE US Presidential Election
Seán Donnelly has applied the latest polls from the US to the electoral college used for the Presidential Election to predict the outcome for today's vote. We've also added the detailed results for 2004. Click here to access the ElectionsUSA section.
21 October 2008 NEWS Resignations over Budget Proposals
There is a growing list of TDs and Councillors who have resigned as a result of the proposal in the Budget of 14 October 2008 to introduce means testing for medical cards for those over 70. Wicklow TD Joe Behan has resigned from Fianna Fáil while Independent TD Finian McGrath has withdrawn his support from the Government. This has reduced the Government's majority to 8. One FF and two PD councillors have also resigned. Click for more information...
17 June 2008 NEWS Local Area Committees Report
The Local Area Committees have reported on proposals for boundaries for the 2009 Local Elections. The reports are available from the official website (which doesn't seem to like Firefox!).

17 April 2008 NEWS Ciaran Cannon elected PD leader
Senator Ciaran Cannon has been elected as leader of the Progressive Democrats with immediate effect.
12 April 2008 NEWS Death of Patrick Hillery announced
Former President Patrick Hillery has died after a short illness.
3 April 2008 NEWS Changes in Party Affiliation
Ardee Town Councillor Leonard Hatrick has announced he is leaving the Progressive Democrats and joining Labour with immediate effect. He cited disagreements over health policy as a significant factor in his decision.
Mayo TD Beverley Flynn has been re-admitted to Fianna Fáil following a unanimous vote at a meeting of the party's National Executive. She is not yet a member of the Parliamentary Party - her re-admission will be considered on Tuesday 8 April 2008, but is expected to proceed without controversy.
2 April 2008 NEWS Taoiseach announces resignation
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has announced his intention to stand down on 6 May 2008.
11 March 2008 WEBSITE Referendum Update
The Taoiseach has indicated the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty will be held in the second week of June. There is speculation that this will be either Friday 13 or Saturday 14.
